Branch Living Libraries Go Global
Bonnie Sherk's A Living Library has become an international movement. Recently she visited India to establish unique, place-based, Branch Living Library & Think Parks in Rajisthan and Udaipur. These projects are being organized in conjunction with the Big Medicine Charitable Trust, and with the Center of Environment Education (CEE) based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. These interpretation centers would link students throughout India with her existing school programs in San Francisco and New York City. In each location A Living Library cultivates human and ecological gardens.

Additionally, Sherk is pursuing interest in establishing Branch Living Libraries that originate in Sierra Leone and Ghana in Africa, and Mexico City, Mexico. These opportunities, once realized, will work toward fulfilling the larger vision of A Living Library & Life Frames, Inc. Sherk envisions establishing a global network of ‘encouragement’ organizations that take the form of Branch Living Library & Think Parks linked through Green Powered Digital Gateways that enable children, youth, and adults to exchange information about their cultures and ecologies, manifesting differences and similarities. The ultimate goal is to utilize such exchanges to empower local residents to improve the vitality of their communities and watersheds. A Living Library has a planetary agenda that is activated by localized initiatives.
