Project: Observe and document a specific human behavior that compromises the vitality of some component of your local ecosystem. Create a visualization of how this damaging behavior might be replaced with a beneficial behavior by applying any of the reform strategies proposed by the artists in this section.

Strategy: Human Creativity

Four topics that facilitate the adoption and implementation of reforms are presented by the artists in this section.

One prerequisite for developing faith in humanity’s ability to reform is awareness of human errors, defects, and abuses.

Another is confidence that humans can correct existing problems.

The following artists express faith in human creativity to preserve the vitality of the Earth’s eco systems:

Human Creativity (Joseph Beuys) (Friedensreich Hundertwasser) (Marjetica Potrc)

Project: Observe and document a specific human behavior that compromises the vitality of some component of your local ecosystem. Create a visualization of how this damaging behavior might be replaced with a beneficial behavior by applying any of the reform strategies proposed by the artists in this section. Present your documentation of the existing behavior alongside your conception of the behavior reformed.

Research / Discussion: The difference between remediation and reform is significant. Remediation strategies are directed at such non-human entities as soils and waterways that have been tainted by irresponsible human actions. Reform strategies are directed at the humans who are responsible for causing those environmental problems. Trace any of the reform strategies proposed by the artists in this section backwards by identifying the harmful human behavior, and by providing information about the extent and nature of the environmental problem it caused.
